CFBC History

After many months of praying and fasting from a vision given to Dr. Drew, Jesus Christ formed Concord Fellowship Baptist Church. Concord’s first service was held in Dr. Drew’s living room on Sunday, September 6, 1994. On Sunday, October 23, 1994, a group of Christian believers from various churches under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit upon the call of Rev. Alvin E. Drew I, met at Passion’s Banquet Hall, 5108 Richmond Henrico Turnpike, to prayerfully consider organizing a new church family. A new church was formed.

Concord was recognized by the Shiloh Baptist Association and the Baptist General Convention of Virginia.

While at Passions, Concord had a radio ministry-, street evangelism, and revivals, and baptisms.

In January 1995 Concord was relocated to 2908 Chamberlayne Avenue, its first ordination service was held a year later, where we ordained one preacher-Rev. Darius Beechaum and four deacons.

Concord was instrumental in assisting other churches with the ordination of their ministers and deacons. We help plant several churches.

Concord was instrumental in sponsoring kids for college. We were able to assist in building 10 Habitat for Humanity homes. We started a food ministry, clothing ministry, youth choir, adult choir, and a combined choir.

Dr. Drew received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Howard University in 1998.

Our first Gospel Explosion was held in 1999.

Dr. Drew became the president of the Baptist Ministers Union of Richmond & Vicinity from 2000 – 2002.

In 2000 Dr. Drew received a Doctorate of Christian Education from Higher Learning Bible Institute.

Because of the growth of Concord’s ministry it was relocated to a larger facility at 3005 Enslow Ave.

In 200 l CFBC became the northside campus for Higher Learning Bible Institute, Concord had its first graduation in May of 2003 where 27 students received diplomas and degrees.

The Concord family was very instrumental in the decrease of drug activity in the neighborhood through its outreach ministry.  Concord purchased the property located at 3005 Enslow Ave. The upstairs fellowship hall was used for its sanctuary while major renovations took place. Concord was able to purchased new seating for a 150 seat sanctuary and purchased a new van.

Concord ordained two deacons: Deacon Sharon Johnson and Deacon Alvin E. Drew II.

In 2004 our Co-Pastor Dr. Beechaum received his Doctoral degree in Religious Studies, and two of Concord’s founder became professors for the Higher Learning Bible Institute, Deacon Sharon Johnson and Elder Jean Ashburn.  Dr. Drew’s vision for the ministry was Infinity to Infinity.

In 2005, Higher Learning Bible Institute’s name was changed to Infinity Bible Seminary to reflect this vision.

Dr. Gracie T. Jones joined Concord Fellowship Baptist in 2007 as an Assistant Pastor.  She was ordained by Concord Fellowship Baptist Church on May 20, 2008.  Dr. Jones is a Professor and Academic Administrator for Infinity Bible Seminary.

Soon thereafter, God blessed Concord with two other Assistant Pastors, Evangelist Dr. Mazie Lynch and Evangelist Dr. Ida Bynum, both joined in 2008.
